Mo Twister: True or false Paris is the capital of England.

Andi: Uhm… True?

And that was "Andi mo Alam" a portion in DJ Mo Twister’s controversial hilarious FM Radio Program at Magic 89.9.

I have been listening to them since Christian Bautista’s guesting. I was actually trying to listen to KLite 103.5 but the frequency was not that good. Then I picked the remote control and was able to find Mojo battling Christian Bautista in a Singing contest (with a twist). and since then I was hooked.

Anyway, I was able to find their Friendster account here and for the first time I am able to glimpse the oh-so-adorable Muse DJ Andi9 Manzano.

According to Mohan Gumatay, Andi 9 was named Andi 9 because in a scale of 1 to 10 her beauty is 9… but when i have finally discerned their friendster account… I was shocked… DANG it! she’s not 9 she’s 99….

Not at all Excited For Xmas

December 23, 2006

The rest of my week is uneventful. i had the chance to visit Bian’s resort (she invited me last Wednesday) but I went tothe Municipal Hall to register as one of the newest batch of voters. Too bad, I was not able to register since it was their Xmas party that day, so I returned there last Thursday.

That resort was so much nice. I was able to read about it last week in Philippine Daily Inquirer. It got so many Antique houses… I invite you to just read the following articles I wrote last summer about it…

December 19, 2006

I cleaned the whole house yesterday, while washing the laundries. I also tried to fix my charger but the soldering lead’s lead was missing.

Anyway, there are already 115 people who viewed my friendster account since December 1.

Last Thursday morning

December 11, 2006

I was awake for a whole 24 hours that time. I attended two morning subjects last Wednesday then I did not go home… i just had my dinner at Jollibee (Arroz Cubana has the best wilted peas, dried carrots and thin tomato skin ever).  My Schedule was 10Pm Wednesday to 6 AM Thurday.

These are the Photographs of my night.

Lights bus

This is the light over my head inside the airconditioned school bus that our group rode to the hospital near the boundaries of Bataan, Pampanga, and Olongapo.

We spent the first few minutes inside the hospital taking Vital Signs of OB patients. Then, an 18 year old girl, was rushed inside the delivery room. We immediately took off our white uniforms and changed to our scrub suits. This was when I discovered that I forgot to bring my Smack Gown (aka Laboratory gown), my OR shoes, and I forgot to buy a bonet.

So I was not able to enter the delivery… which is such a shame since they were not very strict inside that hospital. they let everyone in the DR. While I was left with alexander and mara outside.

Delivery Room Nursing

I just peeped on the door. i was able to take some pictures. Unfortunately, the photos were not that good.

Delivery Room Birth Pregnancy

The girl pissed everyone inside the delivery room. she was like a monster. She was trashing her legs all over. Kicking everyone. She yelled "Ayaw ko nang manganak, masakit nga eh… gusto nyo ba kong mamatay!?"(I dont want to give birth, it hurt… do you want me to die!? Her voice was heard even in the OB and Gyne ward. her relatives were very much embarrased. My classmates were like, "Misis iire nyo na kawawa yung baby naiipit." (MRS, just push, the baby is pityful, youre squeeshing him) but she didn’t care about her baby. The case went on for two hours. According to them the midwife was so infuriated (’mind you, the personnels in that hospital are one of the nicest… especially the midwife… she’s so accomodating) that she extensively made the episiotomy (the laceration surgically done to widen the vaginal opening) big.

The baby was purple color and did not cry. Normally, as a compensatory mechanism, the neonatal should cry when the umbical cord was clamped since the cord provides all the oxygen and nutrients it needs. But the child didn’t. They were only able to salvage the baby through their suctioning. Our CI even raised the child holding its feet and spanked it (this processed is so much contraindicated, but she performed it just to make the baby cry). The baby still look pale with cyanotic extremities when I took this pictures.

after the delivery, we all went back to the conference hall where we were staying. we changed to our white uniforms again and tried to catch up with our sleep. After some times, our CI woke us up (I was eating pala), another girl was about to give birth again.

I was the first one to change. I borrowed Jovelle’s Smack gown, and neil’s Bonet. I ran to the DR and I was chosen (I volunteered pala) to handle the case. Rose was my assistant.

The girl was just 17 years old. But she seems to be older than i am. she got scabs on her feet. The midwife even joked, "Allergic sa tsinelas." (Allergic to sandals)

Unlike the first one, she’s the silent type. But she tends to stop pushing in the middle of the process. Angelo was like, "`1.. 2… 3… ire." and we were like "IREEEEEE" (Pussh). Then when we realized that we were all saying it in chorus we just laughed. It was really funny. I was even able to ask the midwife many things. She’s really nice.

I took this photo secretly, while I was still not wearing my gloves.

And this is the only legal picture among them. I asked Angelo, Hanzel, Alex and Melanie to take my picture, but only Lallaine agreed. We pretended that she was taking only my head, not the girl in the background.

Long Night Long entry

December 8, 2006

Doing “twilight” duties is really interesting, but what makes it really extraordinary this time is that we are assigned in Delivery Room.

In all delivery rooms, student nurses need to stay ready anticipating the line of women waiting for their turn to give birth inside. We compete among our groupmates for the case. We need to have five handled and five assisted deliveries on our graduation day. So we stay put and always on the lookout for our possible preys. YEAH.

Since I already had my handled case last Thursday morning at (6:30), I assumed that it would take a very long time for me to have another chance to get my third case (the first one was published here).

Actually, there is this joke in our school saying that the group that are assigned in delivery rooms during September are the most fortunate, since according to some this month tops the calendar in the number of birth rates a year… the children born in this month was supposedly “made” during the Christmas vacation… (Think about it… HOLIDAY SEASON plus COLD CLIMATE is equals to… people producing warmth under their cozy blankets behind lock doors).

Since it is not September (it’s December, supposedly people are making their September babies) it was not a surprise when my CI told us that while we were waiting for the two laboring women we can take the Vital Signs of the ladies in the OB Ward, Labor Room and Gyne Ward.

I teamed up with Jovelle and Chose to monitor the VS of a new born to make our work easier. She took the VS and I made the charting in the patient’s record (the child was in distress his Cardiac Rate dropped from 160-102).

Since our CI knew that were going to defend our Comprehensive Case Study this morning, she gave us time to sleep. But while I was trying to sleep, a lady was ushered to the labor room at 2. I was assigned to monitor her Vital Signs every hour. She was agonizing in pain when I came to her. I asked her if she felt that I should bring her to the labor room. She said yes. I asked her if she felt like defecating. She answered it’s positive. I told this to my CI and she instructed me to get the wheelchair. When I went inside the room wheeling with me the wheelchair, my CI and I were surprised that she was not around. It turned out that sghe was inside the comfort room… (ask me what she’s doing) defecating.

At 3, she complained the same sensation… sagain false alarm.

I was not able to sleep since the room’s lights were on, so Hanzel and I went outside and played my cellphone’s FM radio. Then one of the hospital’s utility guy went to us telling us that someone is giving birth inside the delivery room. I thought it was my patient so I woke up my groupmates and we changed to our Scrub Suits. Unfortunately, none in our group got the case since we took a very long time to change our uniforms.

After that lady,it was Hanzel’s client’s turn to give birth. She diligently waited outside….

I had the inkling that that was not her first time to give birth because she ordered Hanzel to stay put beside her and support her while she’s giving birth. She said that in her surest voice possible. She grabbed Hanzel’s hand and pushed it to her breast while she moaned to push herself to expel the baby.

I went outside sniggering.

and there where in found them, my client and her mother. She was almost in tears and told me that she already bled. I  tpold this to the midwife. The midwife doubted that she’s actually giving birth that time.  But the woman insisted so I took the wheelchair again and queued her in front of the Delivery room.

Seconds ran to a gozzillion of seconds… and the woman was in terrinle pain crying that she’s about to expell her baby. But the Midwife was stilll hesitant to believe her… so she take her to the labor room and measured the diameter of her vaginal dilation… it was just three centimeters… not yet….

I was not able to see her give birth, we rode the bus at 5:30 AM and went to school for our Case study defense… we defended it at 10…

PS The birth that I handled last Thursday morning, on Monday, I have some photos with it.

cePilgrimage to Mt samat

December 3, 2006

anMt samat

I went to a pilgrimage last weekend to Mt Samat.

i was not really planning to join the annual mass on top of the mountain, but then since I haven’t been there, I thought of giving it a try. I went with Neil, his girlfriend- Rose, Melanie, lallaine and Lorenza.

I was really disappointed because I cannot send the pictures from my cellphone. My cellphone hangs.

It took as 2 hours to climb the steep, winding, asphalt road to the top. It would have taken me a bit faster if lallaine did not stop me for her numerous “upo muna tayo… rest rest!” complains.

I would either take her hand to support her, or let her cling on my sweating, sticky sleeve as we follow the gang of Letran students. We wre always left out by the group. She loves resting in the most unlikely places, on top of a boulder(where my leg cramped), on the edge of the cliff….

The climb was sooper dee dooper exhausting (make that double since I was babysitting her).

Since we are Nursing students, the talk was usually centered on our fluids and electrolytes losses. We were really thankful of the (uhm.. they really hate me for this) the pack of 84 peso worth potato chips that I bought, since it is high in cholesterol (for energy) and skyrocketing in its Sodium content ( an essential electrolyte).

And yeah, we also talked about the storm… according to them, a storm always comes here in the country whenever the mass is scheduled, but no matter how high the signal here in bataan is, the weather is always as sunny as it was last weekend… and during those times, the storm would always devastate other neighboring provinces, sparing bataan…

It’s the miracle of the whole “sacrifice” according to them. Making Neil shout the YFC slogan printed on his shirt “SOLO DIOS BASTA!”

Anyway, it took us only 1 and a half hour to climb down.
